Colour

A diya, reimagined as a small sculpture. A matte white ceramic bowl rests on a tapered base of Channapatna wood, handcrafted and lacquered in bold blocks of colour, drawing on the toy-making tradition of Channapatna in Karnataka.

Low and wide at 11 cm across, it sits easily on a side table, a windowsill or a shelf, and pairs beautifully with the tall version for a staggered cluster.

Choose red, with a deep blue band at its base, or two tones of green. Add oil and a cotton wick to light it for Diwali, then keep it out through the year as an object in its own right. A thoughtful Diwali or housewarming gift.
